My Favorite Allergen Free Restaurant in Tennessee

As soon as our friends in Florida found out about my allergies and food preferences, they sent me into The Dotted Lime. This locally-focused restaurant knows their stuff when it comes to allergies. Just like this gluten-free bakery in Florida! Paul is a fourth-generation chef with 25 years of experience and Chrissy is an 18 year old veteran when it comes to food allergies and doctor prescribed elimination diets. Oh, they have 13 kids that help run this delicious restaurant!

The goods

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit – First off, this breakfast of champions is only $3.49 so, let’s start there. If you’re an ex or current McDonald’s fan, you’ve got to give this one a try. Trust me, back before I knew anything about ethical farming, nutrition or sustainability, I was on the Egg McMuffin train and The Dotted Lime’s TRUMPS it. The crispy bacon paired with the perfectly baked biscuit is a match made in heaven. I think we’ll eat cuisine like this is heaven 😉

Sasquatch Biscuit – Again with the pricing, this massive biscuit filled with an omelet, bacon, ham and sausage is what dreams are made of and it’s only $6.99. The crispy golden biscuit is baked to perfection. Best of all, the bacon.. it’s juicy, crispy and makes this dish.

Then, we tried a few items they were testing out for the menu: Pulled Pork Sandwich (3rd photo down) and Gulf Shrimp Sandwich (4th photo down)! Paul’s homemade ranch is a must try, it’s the best ranch I’ve ever tried! Plus, look at those fries…

Feeling Sweet.. or Basic?

World Famous Cinnamon Roll and Coffee – Are you a cinnamon roll lover? If so, you must order this and have a taste while you wait for your breakfast to come out. You hear this all the time but “you can’t even tell it’s gluten-free” as I heard 4 guests says as I was eating! The icing to dough ratio is perfect and it’s not too sweet. The cinnamon filling mellows out the existing sweetness and it doesn’t taste yeasty. Don’t forget your cup of Muletown Coffee!

Caramel Apple Butter Donut – Let’s go! Doughnut fans, unite. This doughnut actually tastes like a doughnut, not some lame excuse for one. It’s airy, fluffy, perfectly sweet and everyone’s favorite word: MOIST! Hands down, one of the most delicious doughnuts I’ve ever had and it’s gluten-free!

What they’re all about

The Dotted Lime is a 100% gluten-free, tree nut-free and peanut-free facility. Leave your outside food in the car, this helps protect the integrity and allergen-free state of the restaurant. Additionally, menu items change as they source locally for what’s in season! Here are some of the farms they support:

  • Taylor Farms (pastured chicken, eggs, pork
  • Happy Hollow (grass-fed beef)
  • Glendale (lamb)
  • Wild Gulf Shrimp

Each month they order 50 pasture-raised chickens and use every bit of them. In addition, they receive a whole steer on a monthly basis. Buying in large quantities allows them to keep their prices down for you! Plus, here’s more:

  • their french fries are house made with only two ingredients: sea salt and potato
  • they fry in non-GMO sunflower oil
  • all breads are vegan and free of the top 8 allergens
  • keto and grain free friends, they have coconut wraps for you
  • Primal Kitchen’s mayo is a staple in their kitchen (amazing brand!)
  • 100% from scratch kitchen
  • most items are corn-free (if they contain corn it’s GMO-free)
  • you can order organic smoothies and superfood drinks
  • bring the kids, there’s lots for them to do
  • Lastly, if don’t have time, there’s a drive through
